God's relationship with us is all about love. It is about encouraging us with His love, sacrificing His son for us because He loves us, disciplining us because He wants what is best for us, and requiring that we love one another because that is the only way we can experience and share His love. When we love someone, God is in that love, He is the Creator of love and the only way to truly love is to be loved by God.
I think a lot of the problems with the Church are that people get caught up in the rules and forget about the love. Jesus said the most important thing is for us to love (and I feel like that passage might come up in a later devotional...), so why would we judge? Fear and doubt and hate only separate people, and God's love is about bringing people together. It's about bringing people into a relationship with Him and saving us from our sinful natures. No love can be full without the love of God.
